Costs of appraising a home

Most appraisers are transparent and work on the basis of a fixed fee. This may make the costs for an appraisal report seem high, but there is a lot of work in an appraisal. For example, the appraiser can easily spend 7 to 12 hours on a single report and he or she also incurs costs for things like software, necessary data sources, land registry costs and NWWI validation costs.

A valuation almost always precedes an important financial decision in your life. It is therefore important not to save too much on this. An accurate valuation report will pay for itself many times over if you get more money from the mortgage provider, but can also offer you protection or a good negotiating position.
